He is primarily interested in the Presocratic philosophy (especially the Milesians, and Parmenides), Plato and Aristotle. Since philosophy was established as a distinct theoretical discipline only in Plato's middle dialogues, he tries to interpret the Presocratic philosophers primarily in the contemporary context of ideas and not as a part of the history of philosophy. Since Plato and Aristotle coined much of our philosophical terminology, he also deals with their thought.
