He concentrates on the beginnings of scholastic philosophy between 10th and 12th century, especially focusing on the quadrivum (primarily arithmetic and astronomy) and methodological-logical, grammatical-dialectical and metaphysical questions with specialisation in the influence of (not only) Peripatetic tradition on the early medieval thought.

since 2003:     Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Ostrava, Lecturer (2003–2010) and Associate Professor (since 2011) providing education courses on medieval (Christian and Islamic) and early modern philosophy, peripatetic and skeptical tradition in the history of philosophical thought, and metaphysics; in 2007–2010 also Deputy Head of the Department of Philosophy; since 2010 also Vice-Dean of Faculty of Arts of University of Ostrava for International Relations and Development

since 2002:     Department for the History of Older Czech and European Philosophy, Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, researcher with concentration on the beginnings of scholastic philosophy between 10th and 12th century, especially with a focus on the quadrivum (primarily arithmetic and astronomy), and methodological-logical, grammatical-dialectical and metaphysical questions with preferred orientation to the influence (not only) Peripatetic tradition on early medieval thinking
