Since 2002 he has been employed as the Assistant Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the Faculty of Theology of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (Budweis). In the same year he has started to work as the researcher at the Department of the History for Older Czech and European Philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of the Sciences of the Czech Republic.

The focus of his research lies in the area of medieval and early modern scholasticism in the overlap with classical early modern philosophy and contemporary analytical metaphysics. He is the author of two monographs, the editor of two special issues of philosophical journals and he has written more than thirty studies devoted to the philosophy of Francisco Suárez including the number of other so-called Second scholastics (John Poinsot, Bartholomew Mastrius, John Punch, Peter Hurtado de Mendoza, John Senftleben and others) and some authors of classical early modern philosophy (Descartes, Leibniz) as well.

He has been the head of grant projects concerning Second scholasticism (Grant Agency of the Academy of the Sciences and the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic) and co-head of many other projects focused booth on the area of early modern scholasticism and contemporary analytical metaphysics. He has taken part in the number of research residencies (UK, Italy, USA, Germany, Belgium) and in more than twenty conferences (Germany, UK, Italy, USA, Canada, Hungary, Poland). He is the member of several international scholarly societies (SIEPM, ESEMP, Society for Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy, Gesellschaft für Philosophie des Mittelalters und der Renaissance). He has been awarded "The Prize of Rector of the University of South Bohemia" for the book Suárez and his metaphysics.
